Why Do People Fit Roller Shutters To Their Home?

Why Do People Fit Roller Shutters To Their Home?

Due to our diverse population, consumers have many different reasons for purchasing Roller Shutters.

They include:

SECURITY

Theft or burglary of your prized possessions are usually carried out by swift, silent opportunists who target your obvious valuables, eg.  Computers, jewellery, wallets, purses and other small valuables.

When roller shutters are fitted, these criminals are less inclined to target a home.  There is considerable difficulty and noise created to gain access through a roller shutter.

Where increased security is required, we can provide additional security accessories, eg. Bottom bar locks and Extruded aluminum security shutters.

While security screens are another option, they don’t have the ease of internal operation to exit through a window in case of fire.  Roller shutters are also a lot more aesthetic than your traditional screens or bars.

INSULATION

Our slats are filled with polyurethane to form an effective barrier from the heat of the sun.  Glass conducts heat or cold very readily where your shutters will both reflect and restrict the passage of heat into the house.

As roller shutters protect against the heat, they will also reduce the loss of heat through the windows.  The shutter will also prevent cold air entering the home.

Roller shutters are a multi purpose insulator.  They are perfect for a diverse range of climates and a diverse range of homes or businesses.  After an initial outlay, they will continue to save many dollars in heating and cooling bills.

NOISE REDUCTION

By closing your roller shutters, this will dramatically reduce external noise from passing traffic or even the neighbour’s dog.  This provides great benefit for shift workers or young children trying to sleep.

The noise insulating properties are enhanced by the laminated and polyurethane filled aluminium slats.  This is one of the major reasons people purchase shutters.

LIGHT CONTROL

Roller shutters provide filtered light by opening just the slat hinges exposing slots between the slats and permitting gentle flow of light into any room.

Roller shutters can be fully opened, full closed or at any desired aperture in between.

STORM PROTECTION

Roller shutters protect all types of windows against a variety of storms produced in Australia.  Windows are protected from flying debris, hail, and have additional protection against water entry.

If roller shutters are fully closed, they will not rattle in high winds.  In areas prone to cyclones, special shutters fully tested by the C.S.I.RO. to Australian cyclone building standards are available.

Ensure your valuable assets are protected with roller shutters.

BUSHFIRE PROTECTION

The major reason for home loss during bush fires are the small “spot” fires caused by flying embers hitting soft furnishings just inside windows broken by the heat from a bush fire.

Roller shutters create a barrier to protect windows from penetration of burning debris.  In all but the most ferocious bush fire conditions, your roller shutter will protect your home until the fire has passed.

Roller Shutter Components

Ozzie Guard  manufacture the most durable aluminium shutter produced in Australia today.

Head Box

  • Smallest class of head box for the shutter size
  • Slim appearance and colour co-ordination
  • Well sealed against weather and dirt

Axle

All aluminium to give smaller head box sizes and provides all aluminium construction uncommon in Australia.

Bearings

High quality fully sealed stainless steel bearings ensure smooth operation for a lifetime without maintenance.

Slat

Curved polyurethane filled aluminium slat is world renowned for its quality and appearance.  The curved slat gives excellent strength for wider shutters and creates smaller rolls when retracted.  After initial painting, it is coated with a fused acrylic top coat to prevent paint chalking.

Bottom Bar

A strong bottom bar is fitted to the lower end of the shutter curtain.  This provides a secure cross-brace at the lower edge of the aperture.

Shutter Guide Rails

These are fitted with U.V. stabilised PVC instead of the standard felt track used by our competitors.  Guides have a weather resistant coating to ensure protection in our harsh climate.

Controls

Extremely reliable tape manual controls are the standard for our roller shutters.  Their quality and durability are exceptional.  Motorised units can be controlled at the flick of a switch.
